The annual Coyote Coachella Festival will take place on April 10 from 2 to 4 p.m. in the gym, where various students will be performing for their peers. The event will be free to enter.
“I’m excited to see other people in their performances,” sophomore Aldrich Razon said. “Last year, watching Coyote Coachella for the first time, I thought it was awesome seeing the different talent that was around the school. So I’m pretty sure we’re going to see similar results this time.”
Students have signed up and auditioned in order to perform via StuCo’s Instagram form.
“I’m going to be performing a duet of the song ‘Best Part’ by Daniel Caesar and H.E.R.,” sophomore Aleeya Atkins-Dowds said. “I’ll be singing H.E.R. ’s parts, and my duet partner, Cameron Kefale, is skilled with the guitar. I don’t know any instruments, but it’s going to be acoustic because Cameron’s playing with his guitar.”
The festival also shines a light on student businesses who applied for a chance to sell merchandise, as well as clubs who will be fundraising. This event gives attendees the chance to purchase a variety of different items.
“My club will be selling bracelets as a small way of advertising our club to the school,” Amnesty International Club president Gurnoor Gill said. “Since we’re smaller and less known, we wanted to take advantage of the opportunity to reach the student body. The bracelets are fairly inexpensive, so it gives students an easy opportunity to support us.”
Coyote Coachella provides students with performance opportunities they would otherwise lack.
“I think it’s important to have this event because it showcases the student’s talent and creativity we don’t get to see in students,” junior class Treasurer Danica Ruiz said. “Since our school doesn’t have any performing arts, I think it’s a good way for students to showcase and express themselves. If they have a cool talent, Coyote Coachella gives them a stage to perform on, and it also invites the rest of the students to come and support their fellow peers.”
