As seniors count down the days to graduation, they will have the chance to come together on April 3 from 2-4 p-m for an afternoon of games and activities on the field.
“Senior Field Day is like a take on the elementary school field day,” Event Planner Nathaniel Scherschel said. “The whole theme for senior year is throwing back to that nostalgia, so that’s what we tried to do with this [event].”
Before the Student Council made any formal plans, they gathered ideas from the senior class.
“Throughout our monthly meetings, all of us senior Student Council members contributed our ideas and insights, ensuring that everyone had a chance to weigh in on the event planning process,” Senior Class President Elenarose Telona said. “We didn’t just rely on our own thoughts, we also made it a priority to engage with our peers outside of StuCo, gathering feedback on what types of games they wanted to play, when they’d like to see this event take place, and any other suggestions they had to make the event even more exciting.”
Student Council is hoping to make “Senior Field Day” a tradition by bringing back nostalgic games from their childhood.
“We wanted to bring back our childhood and include the games that we used to play when we were [kids], like water balloon fights, sponge bucket games, relay races and [activities] like that,” Event Planner Amani Rahman said. “[Students] will be in teams and they’re going to be doing stations and rotations.”
Participants of the activities should look forward to a raffle at the end of the event.
“For the winners, we’re gonna [give them] a punch card,” Rahman said. “If you get all of the [holes] punched you can turn it in for a raffle, and the winners of the raffle will win a [Cane’s] gift card.”
As this is one of the last events for the Class of 2025, Student Council members plan for it to be a good one.
“We hope it’s a solid send-off as one of the last events coming up here in April,” Scherschel said. “With all the school trips and everything, it’s just that period where seniors just have fun and enjoy the last few weeks of school. It’s almost that last little time that you can sit back, relax, have some fun, and enjoy these days.
