FCCLA, 2nd and 4th Tuesdays
Adviser: Levi Harbeson
Room: E126
Members will be receiving information for the upcoming Student Leadership Conference in March.
“The only members that are required to attend this meeting are State competitors,” President Violet Moreno said. “The members will be finding out details about the itinerary, packing list, and overall procedures and plans for the trip. This is all important and necessary information for the members participating in State.”
With the competition being only a month away, Moreno is excited for the trip.
“This year is my third and last year going, so it’s a really bittersweet moment,” Moreno said. “I want it to be the best state conference our school has ever had, so there’s a lot of pressure on our overall performance at the competition. Overall, I know all our members are really excited to compete and have a chance to bond with their friends.”
Key Club, 2nd and 4th Wednesdays
Adviser: Michelle Kenwood
Room: Cafeteria
Members will be participating in Valentine’s Day themed activities.
“Since Valentine’s Day is this week, we thought it would be fun to get the members into the spirit with themed icebreakers and service opportunities,” President Elect Marleena Tibayan said. “They’ll basically be creating some simple crafts that are heart themed, and it’ll be a fun and easy way for them to earn service hours. With the hours being due next month, we’re trying to offer as many service opportunities as possible to get all the members to that goal.”
This meeting will be the first hosted by the newly elected board members.
“It’s kind of endearing to be hosting my first ever meeting as President, but I’m really excited for it,” Tibayan said. “As Secretary, I didn’t really speak much. I only had one short announcement to give the members at the start of the meeting, so it’ll definitely be a different experience speaking throughout the entire thing. I know the rest of the elects are also excited to take on the leadership roles they were assigned, so I’m overall really excited for all of us.”
BSU, 2nd and 4th Thursdays
Adviser: Tracy Taylor
Room: Cafeteria
The board will be celebrating those who participate in spirit week.
“We will have a red carpet moment for anyone that’s dressed in cultural attire,” Co-President Rediate Hunde. “We’ll also be giving out general club information, have games, and provide snacks for the members to enjoy. I think the members will enjoy the meeting and try to make the festivities as upbeat as possible.”
BSU will also be preparing for their upcoming events.
“We have a few things to make preparations for,” Hunde said. “We’ll be prepping for our BSU conference and our second basketball tournament of the year that will be next month in March. We’ve already done a lot of events this year, but there’s even more to come.”
