Competitive Gaming Club, Every Tuesday

Room: C102
Competitive Gaming’s second meeting of the year will take place on Sept. 2, and members will prepare for the upcoming year together.
“So far, we’re planning on getting new competitive gamers into the tournament system,” Club Manager Ash Hsi said. “Team formations and deciding team leaders are what we want to accomplish this week.”
The club plans to have students choose what games they want to compete in for tournaments.
“Some goals I have for this club are to get everyone incorporated,” Hsi said. “It’s important to have close connections in the club to strengthen teamwork…[and] having students pick their preferred game to compete in allows them to communicate with others with the same interest.”

NHS will be meeting with their inductees for the first time this school year and will introduce board members.
“We plan to welcome back members to NHS through housekeeping,” Vice President Jayden Duong said. “We also plan to provide the regular policies and service opportunities if we have any.”
The club hopes to connect members this year through volunteer events and icebreakers.
“I want to make NHS an enjoyable place for everyone and [have] a good year,” Duong said. “As of right now, we are currently planning icebreakers. It is likely musical chairs or any other ideas as the meeting date comes closer.”

Book Club will host its second meeting of the year, and members will vote on their September read.
“We made all the people at the interest meeting fill out a form saying their favorite genres,” President Adrienne Vera-Perez said. “We’re kind of thinking of something coming of age, maybe mystery, because it’s getting a little close to Halloween. But we just want to make sure we pick a book that everyone likes, because we want everyone’s first book in the club to be a good experience.”
Members will be able to get started on reading after the meeting to prepare to discuss the book.
“My goal in Book Club is to have fun, make friends with all the new members, and have good discussions [about the books],” Vera-Perez said. “I hope the discussions aren’t too awkward, because when you’re sitting around and discussing a book or piece of literature, sometimes it can be a little weird or awkward because no one’s sure what to say. I’m hoping that conversation flows smoothly.”
