Following a spike in staff absences, the CCSD school board canceled instruction for students on Friday and Monday. The decision mirrors the several school districts across the country reining in in-person learning over the surge in Omicron cases and hospitalizations.

February 7, which was initially a contingency day, and April 25, which was a staff development day, will now be instruction days for students.

The Southwest Shadow promises to continue updating the situation on COVID-19 shortages. The Omicron wave has resulted in new and severe difficulties for staff members, meaning the scheduling of posts may be more erratic
