Nursing students start OSHA certification course

With Nursing students done with general lectures, students who passed the EOC are now able to do an OSHA certification course to help introduce workfield protocols.
As exams approach, AP Human Geography teacher Jessica Kelly is holding Google Meets on Saturdays to provide extra guidance and information for students. During these sessions, students listen to lectures, videos, and even play Quizlet games. “I am appreciative of Mrs. Kelly and all that she is doing to prepare us for the AP test,” sophomore Manmeet Kaur said. “Her dedication to teaching has really improved my knowledge and understanding of the topics covered in class. She goes above and beyond making sure that her students do well and I am grateful for that.”

Advanced placement students work together during weekends to prepare for upcoming exam

AP Human Geography students attend meetings on weekends including, participating in lectures, discussions, to better understand test concepts.
While designing packages, students had to think about the general layout before constructing them in three dimensions. Replicating professional company designs, students in Graphic II create packages

Constructing their own packages for real companies of their choice, students are learning about the manufacturing process.
Board games are one of the main introductions to game design and are an important skill to learn for Digital Game II students. Due to coronavirus precautions, CollegeBoard is giving students the choice of taking the exam in digital or paper format at home or school. Individual testing schedules depend on three exam dates for each subject between early May and mid-June. “The biggest pro [to taking the test at home] is probably being safe from any exposure to COVID-19," sophomore Yusra Shafique said. "You might also feel more relaxed and at ease since you’re in a comfortable, familiar environment rather than being stressed by going to school and sitting in a classroom with other students."

Counselors have been scheduling Google Meets with freshmen, sophomores and juniors to decide their schedules for the 2022 school year. Counselors included videos with the Google Form to help students start making the right decision regarding picking electives with information about important courses and suggestions based on grade levels. “Read the course catalog to get the [specific class] description, talk to the teacher who teaches the courses you are interested in, talk to other students who have had the course, and ask your counselor. Academic counselors have been working with students in order to begin the course selection process for next school year.
Trying to celebrate the winning classes who earned an ice cream party, Student Council members create a red carpet for students to walk on during November of 2019. Being guided inside the school bright and early, a new set of ninth and twelfth graders enter campus for hybrid learning. They will be receiving in-person instruction for the first half of the day. “I am happy to see students return for Cohort B,” Assistant Principal Kendra Kelley said. “I was happy to see Cohort A students on Monday and Tuesday as well. BREAKING: Southwest Shadow wins 2021 Scholastic Gold Crown Award

Despite the difficulties of the ongoing pandemic, the Southwest Shadow persevered and won the renowned Gold Crown award.
Using fake patient files to diagnose different cardiovascular disorders, students in Anatomy & Physiology have been studying blood cells and how they affect the human body. Through this unit, students have applied what they know in a real-life scenario to better prepare for future careers pertaining to the medical field. “Since I am in the Respiratory Program, doing these worksheets have been kind of cool because we get to actually look at a blood sample and use our knowledge to detect underlying conditions or other health associated issues,” junior Isabell Min said.
