FIVE THINGS ALL SENIORS SHOULD TAKE AWAY FROM HIGH SCHOOL By Juliana Borruso

Second semester means graduation and college are incoming, soon. From learning a work-life balance to how to build healthy relationships, seniors have been growing and changing throughout these four years. As you move on to this next portion of your lives, here are some lessons that you should take away from our high school careers.

TIME MANAGEMENT SKILLS ARE CRUCIAL

Everyone wants to get as much as possible out of their time in high school, but when it comes out of time for your responsibilities, it becomes a problem. So many students have learned this one the hard way, with all the all-nighters pulled in the last four years. However, there's also a valuable lesson to be learned in them: schedule time for different activities, and don't pack too many activities in one day. This can help you not become overwhelmed in college and as you transition into adult lives.

CHOOSE FRIENDS WISELY

A big part of high school was creating friend groups. This meant deciphering people to hang out with who not only were fun to be around, but also helped you become better people. Your friends should motivate you and support you, and this support will be essential as you move into college. Not only that, but moving in to new campuses in cities that we've never been to before means we need to make good friends. The lessons we learned from friendships in high school will carry over to collegiate lives.

ALWAYS KEEP ESSENTIALS IN YOUR BACKPACK

Everyone's been in a situation where their phone was dying and they didn't have a charger, or they were hungry and had no snacks. To avoid this moment of panic, always keep things you might need throughout the day in your backpack. While being an inconsequential tip, it'll pay off when you or a friend needs something, from headphones to hair ties.

TAKE PICTURES

These times are what so many people look back on as they grow up. Taking pictures, videos, or otherwise documenting it is a great way to ensure you'll never forget the memories you've made throughout your young adult life. This can also help bring you comfort as you move to a new chapter, staying connected to your home, family and friends.

TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF

Self-care has been something many students put off in favor of hanging out with friends or getting their latest assignments done. By taking time to pamper yourself, especially after a hard week, you'll find yourself rejuvenated and motivated for whatever is ahead. Whether it be by reading a good book, rewatching your favorite movie, or doing a face mask, little things can help you relax and take on anything you may face.
