As students discuss their futures with parents and family members, they may feel pulled in two directions, trapped between what their parents want for them, and what they do. “I think that most students feel a bit of guilt for not going into the jobs that their families want,” sophomore Jade Miyano Ramirez said. “A lot of kids around my age are going into things that they don't enjoy so they can see their family happy although they themselves are struggling. A lot of students don't want to make their culture or parents upset due to their choices.”
When your future isn’t yours
Posing for a photo, senior Sebastian Huynh shows off his hard work. To maximize muscle growth, Huynh prioritized high-intensity in his training. “Studies show and from personal experience that lifting with a higher intensity, nearly towards failure, with your lifts, will often provide greater results than just going through the motions of a workout,” Huynh said. “That's one thing that I preach greatly among people.”

Waiting patiently for her music to begin, Adams' keeps her balance on the ice. "We were dancing to Justin Bieber's version of a Christmas song, " Adams said. "That performance definitely stays with me, it was fun."

Many teenagers are reluctant to receive professional support for mental health. There are various factors that play into teens not getting the help that they need. “[Teenagers] might feel that even though they're talking to someone, they still don't feel heard,” freshman Jaeda Gonzales said. “I've noticed that a lot of times when I try to talk to someone about my problems, it doesn't really click [with] them. [It’s] like they're making up their own story about my story in their head and they're just getting it all twisted.”
Suffering in Silence
Many food trends gain attention because of viral influencers or appealing visual aspects. This has continually drawn approval and admiration from consumers before they had even tried the product. “Food trends [are popular] because it’s such a big build-up, especially from influencers,” junior Myles Jenkins said. “They think something’s cool, then they post it everywhere on social media, and then other people just want to do it so they can experience it and post about it. People want to just feel seen by doing the same thing, especially with food, a common way that people could connect.”
