Going in depth about a competition, HOSA Vice President Ryan Navaratte-Pak leads the meeting. This week, Pak will advise general members during a state conference workshop, alongside the rest of the board. “I would say it's a great opportunity for members,” Pak said. “I want to be there for them, especially if they have any issues or need guidance. This sense of withdrawal could be caused by everything from personal belief systems to societal and academic expectations. “I think a lot of teenagers feel lonely,” junior London Burt said. “However they’d never admit it because they don’t want to be seen as weak or less than. They feel lonely for many different reasons, but the most common is that they just think they don’t belong to what society calls normal.”

Dedicating her life to public speaking has greatly strengthened her confidence over time and influenced her to teach the subject. “Public speaking gives people confidence, and I wouldn't be the woman that I am today without it,” Evans said. “I hope other students can capture that essence when they leave my class.”
