Health Occupation Students of America, Second and Fourth Tuesdays
Advisers: Tiffany Stemmerik, Melony Thompson
Room: Cafeteria
HOSA will be discussing a service activity with their members, where members will have the opportunity to gain two hours.
“For the activity, we’ll be making Valentine’s cards for a hospital,” President Elect Aldrich Razon said. “We’ll be discussing details of the service activity and we’ll go over some general information.”
The meeting will also go over updates about new volunteering opportunities and a short activity.
“We’ll also be going over some general information and housekeeping things at this meeting,” Razon said. “It’s pretty similar to most meetings, we’ll discuss new volunteering opportunities for them and they’ll also do an icebreaker at the end of the meeting.”
Amnesty International, Second and Fourth Wednesdays
Adviser: Kristina Haley
Room: C123
Amnesty International will be discussing modern civil rights problems.
“Next meeting we will be talking about young civil engagements,” Club President Gurnoor Gill said. “Our activities are going to be mock trials and Kahoot to help people understand it further. Another thing we’ll be talking about is the origin of Black Lives Matter. And those are gonna be the two topics that we’re going to be covering.”
The club hopes to become more engaging beyond just discussion-based meetings.
“We’re currently trying to work with Project 150, but it’s really hard to get future plans like that going,” Gill said. “It would be a project that would let us go and protest ourselves, and I think it would help members engage more people in active protesting instead of just talking about it.”
Crochet Club, Second and Fourth Wednesdays
Adviser: Maritza De La Fuente
Room: C124
Crochet Club will start creating items themed for Valentine’s Day.
“We’re planning on selling during lunch and making some crocheted Valentine’s Day themed items,” Club President Kasandra Ramirez said. “We’ll be making things like hearts or plushes with the club members.”
Club members are given the opportunity to learn or improve their crocheting with their friends.
“I think most people like it because it’s more of a chill and laid back club,” Ramirez said. “You’re just able to kind of hang out while still crocheting and getting help if you need it, you’re able to get free materials, and you’re able to take home your work.”
