With cheers echoing throughout the crowd, Coyote Coachella created a space where students could showcase their talents and connect with one another this last Wednesday.
The event brought together a variety of performances from singing to dancing, creating an atmosphere where students could express themselves
“It was extremely supportive,” senior Danna Kim said. “The crowd was extremely positive about my performance. Every time something incredulous happened, they cheered and I was extremely happy that I was being supported like that.”
Many students shared similar experiences, emphasizing the encouragement they felt from the audience.
“The crowd was really supportive of every performance,” sophomore Chloe Adobo said. “It was really fun to see everyone’s act and how they performed. I heard all my friends cheering for me, and it was really heartwarming.”
For some students, the event was more than just a performance, but a chance to showcase who they are.
“Since there’s not much opportunity at this school for me to showcase my dance talents, performing at Coyote Coachella means a lot to me,” sophomore Angel Samson said. “It’s the one time I can put myself out there and hopefully inspire others to do the same. That’s one of the reasons why I dance, because I want to inspire people to just get out there, be themselves, and be proud of who they are.”
That message of self expression and courage resonated amongst other performers there as well.
“As someone who is still improving my English,” junior Chenqing Lu said, “this experience was definitely a challenge and a breakthrough for me, making me more courageous in expressing myself.”
Students also found themselves inspired by those who performed on stage.
“Seeing others perform makes me happy that I’m not alone,” Samson said. “It shows that there are many amazing and talented people that want to put themselves out there, the same as me. It also makes me feel inspired by seeing that not everyone is the same and that everyone has their own unique talents. As well as being brave enough to perform in front of the entire school.”
Looking forward, many participants encouraged other students to take the opportunity and step outside their comfort zones.
“I would say don’t be afraid to step out of your comfort zone,” Lu said. “Bravely show your better self and understanding the process in advance will allow you to enjoy the whole process more calmly and happily.”
