Students discuss the issues with unreliable standardized testing in the school system.
As sophomore Mia Sibal works on her collection project, she draws out ideas for each of her designs. Seven Deadly Sins take over Fashion II

As their semester exam project, Fashion II students are using their knowledge of historical fashion to create a collection inspired by the seven deadly sins or heavenly virtues.

Students are expected to create an infographic that is both informative and creative. Most students have experience with making infographics, but even they are learning new things on how to make their infographic display their style and personality. “Creativity is an important skill in everyday life that we all need,” Marissa said, “It gets the point across in a way that will be remembered.”

Although it can be hard to leave a job, assistant principal Trish Taylor is taking her memories and amazing experiences at Southwest to start fresh and build a community of hardworking and diligent students as the principal of East a career and Technical Academy. Smiles were on everyone’s faces as we shared laughs and conversations during last year's Christmas party, completely unaware of the wave of disease to come. It was the last bit of normalcy before returning to our homes, and remaining secluded there for almost the entirety of 2020.

The Covid-19 pandemic is dampening the holiday season.
"I wasn’t too surprised [we were a finalist] because we have such dedicated, hard workers that work so well with one another," A&E editor Naila Yazdani said.
