"After months of saving and selling, I had the funds to purchase and assemble the parts until I made my most powerful connection to the virtual world. “I like to spend my money on experiences and memories rather than physical things," Ava Nave ('26) said. "For example, I spend a lot of money on concerts. I've been to 7 concerts in the past 2 years, and I feel like it's always worth every penny. At concerts, you forget about everything bad happening outside and get to focus on amazing performances. You also get to make friends with people around you from all over the world.“

"My hero is Captain Underpants," Samuel Stonecypher ('26) said. "I like the idea of a superhero that is also goofy. It's fun to imagine someone who can save your life and have fun doing it at the same time. I just think the idea is neat."

“My first concert was Katy Perry," Gigi Situ ('26) said. "I enjoyed the concert, and I liked the props she used. But the best concert I have been to was the Keshi concert, and I ended up going because my friend had an extra ticket. My favorite part was being able to see Keshi up close after pushing my way through. My favorite song that he performed was Westside, and I am glad I was able to have this experience with my friends."

"A compliment that made me happy was about my hair," Eunice Fortun ('27) said. "This makes me happy because I spend a lot of time on my hair, taking good care of it. I've done a lot of research on hair care and styling it so when people notice it, it makes my day. I've also spent a lot of time growing it out since a bad and traumatic haircut in 5th grade but I'm proud of my progress and that's why I get so happy when people like it."

"My favorite hobby is going to the gym because working out keeps me in shape," Sceian Santos (24) said. "It’s very satisfying seeing my body evolve and progress. Ever since I have started going to the gym, I’ve learned how to be disciplined in not only working out but in other areas in my life as well. I also like doing pottery because it’s very calming and therapeutic. These hobbies have both benefited my mental health, which inspires me to keep going."

"My hero is Zach Hill," Charles Grames ('25) said. "Hill's art and his drumming have spoken to me in a way I didn't know was possible. He's allowed me to figure out things about myself that I didn't already know. Before I discovered him, I didn't know I'd be able to appreciate abstract and out of the ordinary art and/or music. I didn't know that I could drum like I do. Without Hill's inspiration, I wouldn't have discovered my drumming potential. Hill has shown me that there is, in fact, beauty in chaos."

“ 'Hope' by NF is my favorite song because of the words," Michael Utzinger('24) said. "Actually, all of NF's songs are my favorite because of his words. 'I was a lost soul at a crossroads who had no hope but I changed that' means a lot to me because, a year ago, I had no idea who I was. I was over weight, and didn’t have many friends. I changed that by going to the gym and surrounding myself with true friends."
