Cooked mushrooms are definitely the best Thanksgiving food, especially the way my mom makes them. She cooks them just right soft but not mushy and seasons them perfectly so they’re full of flavor. The smell alone fills the whole kitchen and makes everyone hungry. They go great with everything on the table, from turkey to mashed potatoes, but they always stand out on their own. No matter how many other dishes we have, I always make sure to get a big serving of mushrooms because they taste amazing and I love mushrooms.

The best Thanksgiving food is hands down macaroni and cheese, specifically baked macaroni and cheese. Every year, we make a cheese sauce and boil the macaroni in a large pot, creating a smooth and creamy cheese before straining the water and mixing the cheese. Then we layer it on top of cheese and bake it; nothing can go wrong with it. Nothing can go wrong with it; we don’t do the cheap Kraft Mac n cheese.

My favorite Thanksgiving dish is the gravy. Although it’s not typically considered as an important dish, I believe it is a small detail that adds a large contribution to the taste of other dishes. It reminds me that it is important to show appreciation for small aspects in our life, as they often have the biggest significance, yet are the least acknowledged. In the spirit of Thanksgiving, we should take time to appreciate and acknowledge the small details present in our lives

My personal favorite thanksgiving meal is baked Mac and cheese. I love this dish because its a simple comfort food. It can taste very different depending on how it’s made. It is a very common southern thanksgiving food. I love how it is something you can make with family. It is a dish that my family makes every year no matter what; and it is something we specifically make for Thanksgiving, which is what makes it so special.

I have a ton of favorites but my top 5 would have to be stuffing, ham, pumpkin pie, pumpkin muffins, and apple cider. These all go well together and they are amazing because my mom spends all day cooking them and we get to help her out so she can have breaks in between cooking them. It is also amazing because we eat them together as a family and sometimes we have our friends over to eat with us. Or sometimes we just go to the buffet and eat the same things she cooks there.

I have 2 favorite Thanksgiving meals it’s really hard to choose but it is quite controversial but it would have to be the green bean casserole or Oreo cream pie. The green bean casserole reminds me of our tradition of the whole family chipping in to make it together. The texture is to die for it has a crunchy topping with a creamy bottom and it can be paired with anything. The Oreo cream pie is not the “traditional” pie that’s normal like pumpkin pie and what not. I like it because it’s sweet and creamy which is a perfect combo. Also it’s refreshing because you just had a whole bunch of hot food so since it is frozen it’s refreshing and a nice switch up.
