Hi, I’m Carter, this is my first year in newspaper. I’m super exited to draw cartoons for the paper and I like listening to classic rock when I work.

As students discuss their futures with parents and family members, they may feel pulled in two directions, trapped between what their parents want for them, and what they do. “I think that most students feel a bit of guilt for not going into the jobs that their families want,” sophomore Jade Miyano Ramirez said. “A lot of kids around my age are going into things that they don't enjoy so they can see their family happy although they themselves are struggling. A lot of students don't want to make their culture or parents upset due to their choices.”

In spite of the increasing dependence of students on technology, many schools have not been able to keep up with the massive connection demands and leave many students logistically incapacitated to complete or turn in assignments.
 In this current era, perfectionism has become such a common characteristic that identity and authentic self is being lost. What starts as self improvement develops into a driver of a people’s individuality. “I feel like it’s very normal for people to want to conform and maintain a decent social standing,” senior Evey Kim said. “Because, for example, Korean culture is based on the idea that you have to be perfect and have to present yourself as best you can. So people end up pursuing terrible habits and end up deteriorating their own health as well.”

 In an age where friendship breakups happen more and more frequently, teenagers struggle with feelings of isolation as they struggle to make and keep friends. This sense of withdrawal could be caused by everything from personal belief systems to societal and academic expectations. “I think a lot of teenagers feel lonely,” junior London Burt said. “However they’d never admit it because they don’t want to be seen as weak or less than. They feel lonely for many different reasons, but the most common is that they just think they don’t belong to what society calls normal.”

Erevis Sosniak, sophomore,  shoots the puck during a hockey match with his team, the Las Vegas Warriors. After a summer of devoted training, Sosniak performed a hat trick, or three goals for a single game, in his first match of the season. “It’s just my love of the sport. I love being out on the ice…I’ve been training myself to get lower and lower every time, it allows me to go faster because it creates a longer stride,” Sosniak said.
