Attracting customers, FBLA Parliamentarian Arcade Encarnacion advertises the club’s hotdog stand at Winterfest. The club sold hotdogs and soda, making around $70 total. “Our club president decided to borrow a costume from her friend, and I was appointed as the hotdog mascot,” Encarnacion said. “It was kind of slow, but then I had this wonderful idea of going up to people and saying that I would dance for them if they bought a hotdog from our stand.”

Ensuring safe hygiene, treasurer Gia Naguiat assists in distributing cookies at the beginning of a NHS meeting. Hand sanitizer was required because the cookies weren’t individually wrapped. “Admittedly, the snacks we serve our members aren’t always the same and we do put thought into it,” Naguiat said. “It may be a small gesture, but especially after school it’s always nice to have a small treat after a long day.”

I really like what we’re planning to do with the club.”

Introducing herself to new members, GSA President Maya Pantic presents information about the club before starting ice breaker activities. Board members planned to focus on creating strong bonds with other members of the club. “The GSA club just offers a kind of atmosphere where we can all talk to each other,” secretary Daphne Huang said. “I know in a lot of other clubs, it’s difficult to communicate between the board and the members, so we want to get rid of that boundary. With a pride club finally being present at SWCTA again, GSA has several plans to improve campus life for LGBTQ+ members and allies.

Henson says it takes a ton of core and upper body strength to successfully execute a trick. “You don’t need outside practice, but it is good to have.
