Psychology Club, First and Third Tuesdays
Adviser: Benjamin Lacombe
Room: H211
In honor of Valentine’s Day, the Psychology Club’s meeting will revolve around love and connecting with others.
“Our next meeting will be about the psychology of love,” club treasurer Jamille Westley said. “We’re going to talk about how our brain identifies and processes love and how it ties into sociology with how other people process it and the psychology behind relationships.”
Psychology Club has continued to cover this topic over the past few years, turning it into an annual event that students look forward to.
“It gets people excited knowing that we have a tradition. It’s a fun topic that everyone likes,” Westley said. “[Traditions] give us an identity as a club and it makes us iconic. Everyone knows that we have those traditions and I think that it also helps with our membership because people tend to spread the word.”
OnPeriod, First and Third Tuesdays
Adviser: Amy Lutz
Room: H213
OnPeriod will be hosting its second meeting with the intention of spreading awareness on women’s health and educating the student body on the menstrual cycle.
“Our main goal is to prevent period poverty and help end it,” OnPeriod Vice President Sofia Yemane said. “We started this club because we believe it’s so important that people know about [issues regarding the menstrual cycle] and end the stigma surrounding this topic.”
The club has plans to grow and become more active within the school community.
“We’ve been in the works of trying to collaborate with other clubs to hold a drive and just raise awareness in general,” Yemane said. “[We want to] share related information to our peers about menstrual health and period poverty, so we’re trying to integrate that into our meeting through activities and presentations. We were [also] thinking of doing a bunch of different things, like making posters to hang up throughout the school.”
National Honor Society (NHS), First and Third Wednesdays
Adviser: Laura Penrod
Room: Cafeteria
NHS’s next meeting will be centered around making preparations to greet new inductees.
“We’re going to be writing letters for the new members that are coming into NHS,” NHS Treasurer Kristine Villacrucis said. “We’re going to be writing any advice we could give to them, things about the club and even things about their upcoming [highschool] years.”
NHS wants to ensure that incoming members feel welcome and that they have tools to help themselves throughout high school.
“The main goal is for the new inductees to have something that they can use as advice. I remember some of the letters from when I became an inductee and how they gave me motivation and lifted my spirits,” Villacrucis said. “[We’re also in the process of creating a poster that] our members are going to be writing messages on. They can sign their name, congratulate them on being inducted, or whatever they want that is school-appropriate.”
