Health Occupation Students of America (HOSA), Second and Fourth Tuesdays
Advisers: Tiffany Stemmerik, Melony Thompson
Room: Cafeteria
HOSA will be starting their meeting off with an icebreaker to encourage member participation.
“We’re going to be doing a rock paper scissors tournament with all our members,” HOSA President-Elect Aldrich Razon said. “The winner is going to be getting a giftcard. [They can choose from places like] Dutch Bros or Salt and Straw.”
The meeting will also provide members with a chance to earn service hours for their club.
“We’re going to be making Valentine’s Day Caring Cards for the Ronald McDonald House,” Razon said. “Love is in the air, so we wanted to do something that was on theme with that. We thought that it was a perfect opportunity for them.”
Black Student Union (BSU), Second and Fourth Thursdays
Adviser: Tracy Taylor
Room: Cafeteria
BSU will be discussing the various events that will be held this month.
“Some of the things we’re going to be talking about is our spirit week, which will be going on from Feb. 10. We’re going to have Throwback Tuesday, [Soccer Mom VS Barbeque Dad], Culture day and class colors. We want to make sure that our members are participating,” BSU Vice President Merana Gebremichael said. “We’re also going to be talking about our tailgate that’s going to be on Feb. 19. We’re going to have cultural [demonstrations], a fashion show and other clubs selling as well.”
The meeting will also give members an opportunity to verify that they make progress to meet the club’s membership requirements.
“We’re trying to make sure that our members stay on top of their volunteer hours as well as their attendance,” Gebremichael said. “Towards the end of the meeting, we’re going to have a session dedicated to checking [these things] to ensure that they’re updated.”
Shelter, Homeless and Foster Animal Advocates (SHFAA), Second and Fourth Wednesdays
Adviser: Jessica Kelly
Room: H207
SHFAA will be focusing on growing their club community through activities.
“I was thinking of doing a more interactive group meeting [this week],” SHFAA President Adailyn Quiroz said. “I want to make the club [feel a little more personal] and have more of a community [by making things more interactive], like hosting a group game.”
SHFAA will still be working towards educating their members and making a community impact.
“[We might do] a Mythbusters, or a truth versus myth about shelters to educate people on what’s really going on,” Quiroz said. “My favorite part of the club is that we get to advocate for animals and help them in a way that really matters. We’ll always care about the animals and we try our best to support the community.”
